President Candidates
Emma Latus
My name is Emma Latus, and I am running for Student Association President in the Spring election. I have been involved in Student Association since my first year when I served as Secretary. Last year as the State Affairs Director, I gained experience with shared governance and local and state government. This year I have had the privilege to serve as your Student Association President, a position that I greatly respect and enjoy. I am working closely with Vice Presidential candidate Avery Winders to ensure a productive and positive future for student advocacy. If re-elected, I intend to continue working towards a more involved campus community, building and fostering shared governance relationships, and uplifting student voices.
The past year has given me the opportunity to grow as a leader and support students by being an advocate in conversations across campus. I also had the opportunity to serve on the Search Committee for our new Chancellor and I am excited about the opportunity to work with the new and existing leadership next year. As a student, I look forward to the opportunity to continue supporting students and ensuring that we are considered in campus decisions and discussions.
Vice President Candidates
Avery Winders
My name is Avery Winders, and I am a junior here at UWL. I am studying Business Analytics and Accountancy with a love for enacting true change for the current and future students of UWL. I am running for the Vice-President position alongside our current President, Emma Latus, who is running for re-elation. I have been involved in the UWL Student Association since I first stepped foot onto campus but have been in an official position since last May, serving as a CSH Student Senator. I have already fostered great relationships with various members of the campus community and only intend on growing and strengthening those relationships.
If elected I will increase the visibility of the UWL Student Association across campus, make students leaders more accessible on campus, advocate for what is truly best for our university and make sure our voices are heard and considered on an equitable basis. Additionally, there are a lot of administrative changes taking effect in the Fall of 24’ so building those relationships with administration from a ground level will offer the students a great advantage of making UWL the best university it can be. I believe through Emma and I’s leadership and the great work of all students on campus, we can all help UWL achieve greatness.
The Student Association election is on April 16, 2024, through a digital ballot sent to all students via their UWL email address.
