“Down to Earth”

Recycle old cell phones during Earth Week

Taylor Miles, Guest Reporter

Who are we?

We are students currently enrolled in the course Advocacy and Persuasive Campaigns (CST 413) and our mission is to heighten the awareness of electronic and hazardous waste recycling options for students and staff residing on or off campus at UW-L.

What is “E-waste”?

“E-waste” or electronic waste, refers to any unwanted materials such as computers, TVs, cell phones, and tablets. These electronics have many hazardous parts which require special handling, and they also have many valuable, reusable parts. When these materials are recycled, they can reduce the need for producing new materials for newer products.

What do we want?

We want YOU, whether you are a student, faculty/staff member, or a member of the La Crosse community to stop by the Hoeschler Tower on the UW-L campus on Wednesday, April 22 anytime from 12-2 p.m. to drop off any old or unused cell phones regardless of their condition so that they can be recycled properly. Additional information regarding electronic and hazardous waste recycling options will also be distributed via pamphlets. If weather conditions are poor, our alternative location is the entrance of Cartwright Center.
