Marissa Tatro is a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior and political science major. “Being a student server is almost an escape as well as an additional stressor at the same time. At first when I’m on the job I’ll be thinking about the school work that I have to do, but after a couple hours… it’s almost like work is a good distraction. You have to be there anyway, so you just have to let yourself get absorbed in it. Being a student server is also a good way to make some cash to have on hand right away, which is why I choose to do it. Sometimes I need money to go downtown or for something simple like gas. It’s a good way to pay for the small things you forget about,” said Tatro about working at Creekside Grill and Pub.
