Hi Eagles, my name is Emma Wittman and I’m excited to run for President of the Student Association. My running mate, Cisco Garcia, and I are passionate about making our campus a better place for all students. We have big priorities: getting students more involved in the Chalking Policy, improving Whitney dining hall, addressing the overcrowding in the Recreational Eagle Center and pushing for Prairie Springs 2.
Cisco and I want to bring real change that will improve UWL students’ lives. The Chalking Policy is an important way for students to express themselves, and right now, it doesn’t include nearly enough student input. We want to make sure it reflects the voices and values of everyone on campus. Students belong in the conversations that directly affect us. Whitney dining hall is an essential part of student life, but we all know it could use fresher, healthier options, and more choices for people with different dietary needs. The REC is another priority—right now it’s overcrowded, which limits access to the gym and the resources students need to stay active. Cisco and I are committed to working with the REC staff to explore options for expansion and bringing in more equipment that students actually want and need.
And perhaps most importantly, we’re advocating for Prairie Springs 2. Our STEM majors deserve better than outdated spaces in Cowley Hall. We want our future doctors, scientists and innovators to have the resources and environment they need to succeed.
Cisco and I are proud UWL students, and I believe we can create an even better campus that works for all students for years to come. As a political science major, my education and experience have equipped me with the skills to think critically, advocate for justice, and work to make real, positive change. These are the qualities I’ll bring to the role of Student Association President, and I’m committed to making sure every student’s voice is heard.
UWL needs student leadership that will work for real change. If elected, we will push for greater transparency, real student involvement in decision-making, and a campus where students aren’t just an afterthought but the priority.
Voting is on April 15, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to vote online. Let’s step into a New Era of UWL, together.
Go Eagles,
