On April 3, 2026, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s lacrosse team went up against #25 ranked Colorado College and faced a 15-4 loss at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. This loss caused UWL’s record to drop to 7-3, meanwhile Colorado College scored the first ten goals of the game.
Starting off in the first quarter, Sofia Niklaus scored a man-up goal with an assist from Meilani Molina with 10:07 on the board giving the Colorado College Tigers a 2-0 lead. With an additional score from Molina and Sofia Mancino the score was 4-0. Charlotte Iler made her mark on the scoreboard with a pair of goals in the first quarter, extending the lead to 6-0.
With 13:47 in the second quarter Beatrix Nace was able to score for the Tigers with an assist from Ella Roe (7-0). Grace Bean, Maddie Jenks and Oliv Janerico added their goals onto the scoreboard for the Tigers leaving them with a 10-0 lead. Ava Schiltz scored a goal for UWL with 5:51 remaining in the second quarter resulting in 10-1 at halftime.
When they returned to the field Jenks and Iler gave the Tigers an additional two points onto their score (12-1).Megan Maloney and Schiltz scored and cut the lead 12-3 with an assist from Emily Wrobbel. In the fourth quarter Elsa Greene scored twice for Colorado College pushing the lead 14-3. UWL responded with a goal from Evie Brilz off an assist from Schiltz with 3:27 left on the clock (14-4). Iler tacked on another point with 1:25 on the scoreboard, giving UWL their last point of the game.
Colorado State earned one more goal making the final score 15-5. Stefania Rossi took the loss, finishing the game with seven saves. UWL totaled 17 shots including seven on goal. Schiltz and Maloney tied for team lead with six shots.
The Tigers totaled 28 shots with 15 being on goal. Roe and Alyssa Kawala tied for team lead with three ground balls. Cassidy Schnaufer earned the victory for Colorado College, playing the first half and recording three saves. Natalie Bernstein played in the second half and recorded four saves.
Captain Lydia Spencer was interviewed about the game against Colorado College. She stated, “It is fun to play a team that is challenging…our coach looked into the past games against the team and even though they beat us, the point gap was smaller than in the past years.”
UWL will return to the field Wednesday, April 8 against UW-Stevens Point at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
